A brand-new event, the “World Go Championship”, will be held next week, March 21-23 in Osaka, Japan. Four top players, Iyama Yuta (Japan), Park Jeon Hwan (Korea), Mi Yuting (China), and DeepZenGo (representing AI) will fight it out for the title. Blackie’s Baduk Academy launches online teaching service

If you can’t get to Blackie’s International Baduk Academy, Blackie’s will come to you. “We recently started an online teaching
service in order to help people who cannot come to Korea to still be able to study with us,” Diana Koszegi 1P (below right) tells the E-Journal. She and Kim Seungjun 9P (aka “Blackie,” top right) “would like it to be as similar as possible” to the experience of those who have attended Blackie’s, also known as BIBA.
The project will be held on the Korean Go server, Tygem and begins in March. The program includes league games, group reviews, offline lectures, life and death problems and teaching games. The cost is 200€ per month; register for 6 months and get a month free.

Samsung Cup Finals on AGA’s YouTube This Week

The AGA’s YouTube and Twitch channels will cover the Samsung Cup finals this week. Coverage of the match between world #1 Ke Jie 9p and Tuo Jiaxi 9p will start at 8p PST, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (Dec. 5-7th). This week a new professional will join the AGA team: Stephanie Yin 1p. Yin will comment on the first game on Monday and the final game on Wednesday (if the match goes all three games). Myungwan Kim 9p will be providing commentary on the second game on Tuesday.

Lee Sedol 9p will take on Ke Jie 9p in the Samsung Cup semifinals, in a reprise of last year’s match, when they also met in the semis. The match starts this Sunday, and Myungwan Kim 9p will provide commentary on the three-game series live on the AGA’s YouTube and Twitch channels, starting at 9p Pacific time on Sunday, October 30 (PDT, UTC-7). Game 2’s commentary will begin at 9p PST on Monday, 10/31, and if necessary, Game 3’s commentary will start at 9p PST on 11/1.
