U.S. Invited to Send Team to World Mind Sports Games; Contributions Sought

Monday June 4, 2012

The U.S. has been invited to compete in five tournaments at the 2012 World Mind Sports Games in Lille, France. “This is a great opportunity for our players to participate in such a high-profile event,” said American Go Association President Allan Abramson. Because expenses are not covered, Abramson is asking “every adult AGA member to consider donating $30, or the equivalent of one year’s membership dues,” to support the U.S. Mind Games team. The second such event, the 2012 World Mind Sports Games is limited to amateur players — professionals competed in the previous edition — and the go competitions will be held August 13-23 so as not to conflict with the U.S. Go Congress. The U.S. has been invited to compete in the Men’s Individual, Women’s Individual, Pair Go, Team and Youth events.  “Please be generous and act soon, as we must name our team members by the end of the month so that they can make travel arrangements,” Abramson urged.
