SportAccord World Mind Games
(Different from the World Mind Sports Games)
The SportAccord World Mind Games is a multi-sport event focusing on mind sports. It consists of events for bridge, chess, go and draughts (checkers). Its main goals are:
- The full satisfaction of the players and international federations
- The establishment of worldwide TV coverage
- Large participation in the online tournament linked to the event
The go section of this event allows players to compete with top-level competition including pro players from Europe, China, Japan, Korea and Chinese Taipei. Prizes include $10,000-80,000 (USD) for teams and $2,000-12,000 (USD) for pair go. For all players, SportAccord sponsors airfare, hotel, meals and local transportation.
Tournament System and Eligibility
Interested teams and pairs should email tournaments@usgo.org for complete SAWMG qualifier details and requirements to register. Once registration has ended, qualifier tournaments are set up for the team events. The winners of these events go on to represent the United States in the SportAccord World Mind Games.
