2008 World Mind Sports Games
The first World Mind Sports Games (WMSG) were held in Beijing shortly after the 2008 Summer Olympics. The 2008 WMSG consisted of events for bridge, chess, go, draughts and xianqi (Chinese chess).
Representatives
The AGA sent a team of twenty-two led by Feng Yun 9p to represent the United States in this historic meeting. Players in men's events were selected through a series of regional qualification events in which players earned points for their placing in the tournament field. Final point standings can be found on the qualifiers page. In addition, the AGA's Board of Directors invited Michael Redmond to play for the team. The national pair go champions, selected at the 2008 US Go Congress, played in the mixed pairs event.
