CHO THREEPEATS IN JUDAN: Cho Chikun 9P defeated Yamashita Keigo 9P 3-2 to threepeat in the Japanese Judan. Details on Monday.

GU LI WINS 5TH TIANYUAN, TYING RECORD: Gu Li 9P defeated Liu Shizhen 6P 2-1 to win the Chinese Tianyuan title for a fifth consecutive time, tying Chang Hao 9P's record. Details Monday.

YODA LEADING MEIJIN LEAGUE: Already the challenger for the Hononbo title, Yoda Norimoto 9P is also leading the league to determine the challenger for the Meijin. Details on Monday.

WON AND PAEK TIE UP BC CARD CUP: Won Sungjin 7P and Paek Hangsuk 5P are 1-1 in the finals of the Korean new pro BC Card Cup finals. Details on Monday.

GAME COMMENTARY: Jie Li’s Losing Move Against Yoda
“According to analysis by Rin Haiho 9p, O Rissei 9p, and Gu Li 9p, black (Yoda Norimoto 9P) is only ahead by a margin of less than 2 points after komi at this point,” says Jie Li in today’s thrilling game commentary. “However, my next move is probably the losing move.” See if you can find the biggest move for white in the diagram at right and then check out Li’s commentary on his recent Fujitsu game with one of the world’s top players in the attached file.
Our bonus files today are a pair of uncommented games from last weekend’s Walter Schmidt Cup in Romania (Dragos Bajenaru Wins Schmidt Cup In Romania 4/23 EJ). In Round 1, Cornel Burzo 6d – a frequent US Go Congress attendee and E-Journal contributor -- plays Lucian Corlan 5d and in Round 2 he plays eventual winner Dragos Bajenaru 6d. The games feature plenty of exciting play and are a great opportunity to see some of Europe’s top players in action.

GO QUIZ: Good News And Bad
While it’s nice being mentioned in a Washington Post report on the first board of a big go tournament, it’s not so nice being described as "middle aged". When EJ Managing Editor Chris Garlock suggested this quiz question, I had hoped that the "middle aged" reference would throw you off, but 10 out of 12 knew it was me. And Phil Waldron's well-intentioned comment that I am not middle aged but "well settled" does not make me feel any better. Two folks picked Mike Lash, who should take it as a compliment that someone thought he might be at Board One. And though Allan Abramson sometimes plays at his own tournaments, he is far too busy to play while directing the Cherry Blossom. And Steve Fawthrop - DrStraw on KGS -- is strong enough, but was not there. Up-and-comer Grant Kerr (7/7) detailed his interesting detective work "Keith is the only one rated 5.0 or better whose rating was updated (downward) April 1...(also he wears) a baseball cap on his KGS picture (my proud Journal cover)" Another entrant had an easier route "My Grandad said it was my Dad" remarks Melanie Arnold (2/2) Phil, Kim and Grant all knew the teenager disrespecting his elder was Eric Lui. Congrats to JASON WON, this week's winner, drawn at random from those answering correctly.
